HEROtsc, the contact centre company which employs more than 750 staff at its Manvers centre in the Dearne Valley, has been sold to Paris-based Webhelp Group.

Webhelp Group operates 24 contact centres in continental Europe and North Africa and is believed to have paid £77 million for the HEROtsc, which began life as a Scottish business called TSC and was acquired by the Indian-based HERO Group in 2007 for £40 million.

HEROtsc is based in Scotland and employs around 6,000 people at nine call centres in England and Scotland.

The business will be renamed Webhelp TSC and will continue to be run by its existing management.

Chief executive David Turner said: “This acquisition is excellent news for our people and customers.

“Webhelp is a dedicated customer relationship management organisation and is therefore totally supportive to accelerate our strategies.

“The dedication and commitment of our teams in the UK cannot be underestimated and they are a major part of our success.

“Under our new ownership, we will continue to provide the very best career opportunities and support to our people as we continue to expand our operations geographically and into new service areas.”
