POPULAR Ecclesall Road sports bar Champs has sprinted 200 yards down the road.

It reopened on Saturday following a month’s refurbishment after being bought as a concept by Punch Taverns. It houses a Red Bull Formula One car simulator, a full size competition-spec motorbike plus 30 plasma TVs screening live sport.

American-style burgers, ribs, wings and steaks, key lime pie and knickerbocker glory are on the menu with the kamikaze chicken wing challenge – six spicy portions to eat within 15 minutes.

ABBEY Lane bistro Spoon has a new evening menu, offering three courses for £17, and a later closing time of 11pm.

Starters, normally £4.50, include Homemade Thai Fishcakes and Ham Hock Terrine with sweet rhubarb chutney.

Main courses, normally £10, range from Home-made Chicken Kiev to Slow-Braised Belly Pork on braised red cabbage and apple.

PIE-LOVERS are heading for the Shoulder of Mutton on Top Road, Worrall, the pub run by the Cinnamond sisters.

On Monday nights it’s pie night. Chef Richard North hand-makes four different varieties of tray pie each week. It’s a fiver a portion with chips and peas or mash and veg.
