Hundreds of hula hoops were discovered during operation ‘Spring Clean’ at the Naylor Amco Plastics site in Wath upon Dearne.

The kids’ favourite had been left in a container by the previous owners of the site after orders were cancelled.

Naylor staff contacted Rotherham Council to ask if they could donate them to schools, nurseries and child care providers in the local area. Some 165 e-mails were sent out - producing a “tremendous” response. Dozens of people turned up the following day and they were all gone by the close of business.

Liz Hudston of Naylor said: “We received many e-mails of thanks with photos of children enjoying the hula hoops.”
