Residents in Sheffield can learn how to make their most of their money with a new drop-in service.

Social housing provider Acis Group, which owns and manages 1,200 homes in the city, is launching Money Box, which offers face-to-face advice about financial products and services, in Manor and Woodthorpe.

Rebekah Kelly, Acis financial inclusion officer, said: “Money Box is a fantastic new initiative we have already piloted in another region.

“We now want to give as many people as possible in these areas of Sheffield access to appropriate advice about financial services and products.

“We are aiming to help people to manage their money effectively on a day-to-day basis, plan for the future and deal with financial distress.”

Sessions will take place on the second Monday of every month at Angleton Meeting Rooms, Angleton Green, Manor, starting on September 9, and on the fourth Monday of every month at Tara meeting rooms, Ulley Road, Woodthorpe, starting on September 23. Both sessions run from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

Advice and support will be available on dealing with debt, savings facilities and bank accounts, managing money, affordable and responsible credit, basic home contents insurance, housing options and paying rent, and budgeting.

Rebekah said: “All advice given and issues discussed will be done so in the strictest confidence.”
