A NATIONAL body has recognised a South Yorkshire housing company for its work to involve tenants in how their estates are run.
The Tenant Participation Advisory Service, a national tenant participation organisation working to give residents more power, has given accreditation to Berneslai Homes, which runs council housing in Barnsley.
The company has been awarded the Resident Involvement Quality Standard for a second time.
The recognition, which lasts for three years, is only awarded to landlords who can show that they genuinely involve a wide range of residents in the planning, delivery and monitoring of their services.
It follows an assessment including interviews with tenants and staff, observations and ‘thorough’ checking of the company’s information.
