Sheffield’s own domestic goddess Helen Moyes is out to teach everyone the knack of keeping hearth, home and kitchen running smoothly.

The Greystones mum, a trained home economist, set up her own home-coaching business in a bid to pass on skills, plus tips to save people time and money.

She’s launched a series of “how to” workshops and has been teaching all manner of sewing and cookery skills. Last weekend her ‘pupils’ learned how to make preserves, jam and chutney using autumnal produce from their allotments and fruit trees.

Next she’s turning her hand to a bit of pre-Christmas planning. Her November 3 workshop, to be held at High Storrs School, will be entitled Making Edible Christmas Gifts.

The Sunday class will run from 12.30-4pm. “Bring along your gift list, and we’ll make some personalised, tasty gifts that friends and family will love.”

Helen provides ingredients and equipment, plus refreshments during the day, and the cost is £38 per person. Booking is essential.
