A Barnsley recruitment agency is striving to get new teaching graduates into work

Provide Education is inviting newly-qualified teachers to register for job opportunities which could have them in paid employment within days.

The expanding agency is visiting universities and holding open days to sign up newly-qualified teachers throughout June.

Provide Education’s managing director Katie Jones said: “The summer term can be a very busy time for schools dealing with exams; demand for supply teachers can be high and schools appreciate the enthusiasm and fresh ideas that NQTs bring to the job. We can get NQTs into work within days of finishing their teaching practices.”

Provide Education works with over 2,200 teachers, teaching assistants and support staff to fill vacancies in over 500 primary and secondary schools across Yorkshire and the East Midlands.

Forty per cent of graduates who joined the company as active job candidates straight from university last summer have gone on to secure permanent jobs.

Claire Dodsworth, a graduate of Sheffield Hallam University, joined Provide Education last June. She has since worked as a supply teacher in a range of primary schools and is in a long-term cover post.

She said: “The experience has massively increased my confidence in the classroom. It has been a great first year for my career.”
