By George, it’s Easter the weekend after this.
And as Saturday 23rd is also the day of England’s patron saint, a former Lord Mayor and ambassador for culture in the city is urging amateur and professional cooks to dish up a patriotic feast of recipes.
The Star will feature them in an Easter Food Special next week so readers can give their holiday weekend a good, old-fashioned South Yorkshire flavour.
Keen cook Roger Davison is leafing through his own family archive – a book of favourites hand-written by his grandmother. “There must be a wealth of fabulous traditional recipes out there, dishes families have loved for generations. Let’s use them to get everyone cooking up a real English feast for St George’s Day and Easter,” says Roger, cabinet member for Culture, sport and tourism in Sheffield.
Email your recipe, name, age, address and daytime phone number, to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to Jo Davison, The Star, York Street, Sheffield, S1 1PU. Pictures of you and your dish are welcomed.
