Sheffield-based restaurant chain owners Ged Lynch and Neil Lawrence have achieved their long-held ambition to open a gastro pub.

The two men, who run the Felicini chain of Italian restaurants, have invested £1.5 million in turning a property near Stockport into the Pointing Dog gastro pub, with the help of Sheffield-based Self Architects.

In addition to extensive refurbishment, including demolishing part of the building and putting up new extensions, the Pointing Dog incorporates a series of energy-efficient features, such as underfloor heating powered by air source heat pumps and harvesting of rainwater to flush the toilets.
