GRANT Thornton’s senior partner in Sheffield, Gary Meakin, is retiring and handing over to audit and assurance team chief Paul Houghton.

Mr Meakin has been with the office for the past 12 years, four of them as senior partner.

Paul Houghton worked in London for 12 years before moving to Yorkshire nine years ago.

He looks after general manufacturing and support services clients and has specialist expertise advising clients in the property and construction and the software and IT sectors.

He said: “This is a great opportunity to build on Garry’s work of the last decade. Five years ago we had just 50 staff here. Now we employ almost 100 and we are continuing to hire – deepening the expertise we have to offer businesses across the city region.

“We are continuing to invest in the development of what is already an exceptional team of experts based in Sheffield.”

Padded envelope and bubble wrap specialist Envelope Master has called in Assured Fire and Security to ensure there is no repeat of the devastating fire that destroyed the company’s factory on Aldwarke Lane, Rotherham.

Fortunately, Envelope Master was able to get back into business quickly, and now it has called in Dinnington-based Assured to install a new fire and security system.
