Gala Tent gets its new deal off PAT

Gala Tent is diversifying and moving into testing portable appliances.

The Dearne Valley company has acquired the client base and assets of Pat Man UK and launched a new subsidiary called Pat Man Company.

Gala is the UK’s largest designer and manufacturer of tents, marquees and gazebos and will now also be providing a portable appliance testing - or PAT testing - service.

The firm says its new service will meet the Electricity at Work regulations and both public and employee insurance liability requirements.

Company founder and managing director JasonMace said: “We have spotted a gap in the market for an efficient and cost effective portable appliance testing service.

“We were offered a deal to acquire the customer base and assets of a reputable local business that needed help and so decided to expand our operations into this area.

“We expect to use our local business contacts to grow the client base and to create a number of new jobs over the next six months.

“This is the latest new business to be added to the Gala Tent portfolio and we are really excited about the opportunities for this new business in the South Yorkshire area and beyond.”

Pat Man Company will be headed by managing director Chris Winterbourne, employ a dedicated team of electrical engineers and is offering a free risk assessment for local businesses for a limited period.

Gala’s acquisition of Pat Man is its second diversification in recent months.

The group had earlier acquired wide format print business Sign Man to extend the bespoke branding services it provides for clients of its tent business.
