SHEFFIELD Forgemasters has been hailed as a “Lionheart of the European economy” after becoming the only British company to win an award at this year’s European Business Awards.

Forgemasters beat off tough competition from across the continent to win the Export/Import category at the award finals in Barcelona, attended by heads of state, leading industrialists and entrepreneurs from 30 European nations.

Belgian prime minister Yves Leterme, who was one of the awards judges, and Adrian Tripp, chief executive of the European Business Awards, hailed the winners of the 11 categories as ‘lionhearts of the European economy.’

Forgemasters chief executive Graham Honeyman, said: “This award is a real mark of distinction and is testament to the determination and passion which drives this company. “We are showcasing the UK’s success in the manufacturing sector.”
