A PROPOSED new supermarket in a Sheffield suburb would stand out like a ‘Victorian monolith’, a parish council was told.
An elderly resident living near the site made the claim at a meeting of Ecclesfield Parish Council planning committee.
A planning application has been submitted for a new ground floor retail unit for Costcutter on Bevan Way, Chapeltown, with five apartments above and car parking.
The resident also claimed the development would cause big parking problems in the area around the development saying there needed to be at least 39 parking spaces.
The parish council is to pass on the comments to Sheffield Council planning board which will make a decision on the planning application.
