A TOWN council and a local history society are set to lose their fight to prevent a hot food takeaway opening in a conservation area.
North East Derbyshire District Council is being recommended to approve a planning application for the takeaway in a former shop in Chesterfield Road, Dronfield.
Dronfield Town Council had objected saying there are already enough takeaways in the town. Dronfield Civic Society objected for the same reason and also because members say the takeaway would be too close to Henry Fanshawe School where it would conflict with healthy eating objectives.
But the council’s planning manager is recommending approval, stating the takeaway would have no detrimental effect on the character of the conservation area.
