GReenbuy Energy is expanding into the agricultural sector after winning its first contract to supply a farm with solar energy panels.
The Dinnington-based green energy company is responding to planning laws affecting the installation of solar panels on commercial property, including farms.
“The need for planning permission is something which has deterred farmers from solar energy in the past, but this is now no longer a concern for them,” says Greenbuy Energy’s Russell Paul.
The company has signed its first agricultural deal with Stephen Woodward, owner of the 200-acre Poplar Farm in Woodall, Sheffield.
Greenbuy Energy predicts that the 40 solar panels it is installing will pay for themselves in less than eight and a half years and will generate a total benefit of £89,000 over 25 years.
