Farm moo-ves with times to turn sunshine into energy

A buffalo farm at Oxspring near Barnsley is harnessing the power of the sun to keep business booming - with the installation of solar panels to save money on electricity bills.

Family-run Snowden Hill has been farming water buffaloes in grassy paddocks since 2009, producing and selling buffalo meat burgers and sausages sold at farmers’ markets, festivals and agricultural shows.

But the farm had experienced rising energy costs especially in its round-the-clock cold store.

Hoylandswaine-based Norcroft Energy carried out the solar panel installation with 40 panels on a south west facing roof.
