UP TO 150 new jobs could be created with proposals for a £5 million expansion of Cannon Hall Farm.
Planning permission has been granted for a bigger shop, indoor play centre, extended restaurant and more educational classrooms at the attraction near Barnsley.
Owner David Nicholson said he aims to ‘create a tourist attraction of national significance’ which could lead to him employing double the current 150 staff within ‘the next few years’.
The project is due to start in the summer with the farm, which will accommodate double the current number of animals, ready for next Easter.
Coun Paul Hand, of Barnsley Council, which approved the plans, said: “Cannon Hall Farm is a Barnsley success story and I think we should all be proud.”
