Five Sheffield City Region companies have been named among the top companies in Yorkshire when it comes to the way they use social media.
Outdoor clothing and equipment retailer GO Outdoors, IT products retailer Insight Direct, gym operator LA Fitness, law firm Irwin Mitchell and electronics retailer Maplin are all among the top 20 in the SociaLIGHT Yorkshire Index, drawn up by Admiral PR.
In addition to being ranked third overall in Yorkshire, GO Outdoors was also fourth overall in the combined listing for the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
The rankings are based on 15 different criteria, including the level of engagement and the quality of the content as well as the numbers of “likes” and followers companies have.
Admiral’s Georgie Cameron said: “The impact that social media can have is very often underestimated by a lot of organisations but things are beginning to change.
“SociaLIGHT gives companies an opportunity to see how they compare with their competitors and where progress can be made.”
Irwin Mitchell’s Ian Powell said: “Irwin Mitchell’s reputation is important in all aspects of our business and this applies to our online reputation as well.
“It was never going to be enough to simply sit on the side lines and we set out to be proactive in our approach to social media.”
Other Sheffield City Region companies in the Yorkshire rankings include Pegler Yorkshire, JELD-WEN, Polypipe, DFS, Outokumpu, Wavin, Ardagh Group, AES Engineering, UFI Charitable Trust, Gilder Group, SIG, CF Booth, ELG Haniel Metals and Henry Boot.
