MTL Group is hoping to build on the success of winning its biggest export contract yet when it attends a major wind power conference in Norway, in August.

The Brinsworth-based company recently announced that it had won a multimillion pound contract from Norwegian energy group, Aker Solutions, to build 97 boat landing systems, destined for a German offshore wind farm.

That deal sprang from a visit to the UK by Windcluster Mid-Norway, a group of around 40 businesses and research facilities working together to advance industrial and technological development using wind energy.

Later this year, MTL will attend a conference and exhibition in Norway, organised by Windcluster Mid-Norway and the Enterprise Europe Network, a European Union initiative that helps smaller firms to make the most of the European marketplace.

The mission will also include visits to major players in the Norwegian wind industry.

MTL Group sales director, Karl Stewart, said: “Our involvement in networks such as Enterprise Europe Network and Team Humber Marine Alliance has been instrumental in selling the expertise that exists within our business and ultimately securing new orders.”
