Visitors to next month’s Totally Logistics North exhibition at Doncaster Racecourse are being offered the opportunity to see inside one of the UK’s largest hardware distribution centres and a Queen’s Award-winning lifting and loading equipment manufacturer.
Attendees will get the chance to tour the B&Q DIY national distribution centre at Worksop and Transdek’s plant at Harworth.
The B&Q centre uses a range of advanced pallet and carton based storage, distribution and picking systems.
Transdek won its second Queen’s Award for Innovation earlier this year after developing a platform that makes it easy to unload high capacity, double decker trailers, which can carry up to 67 per cent more than conventional heavy goods vehicles, reducing delivery runs, distribution costs, fuel consumption and pollution.
The company’s ‘double deck lift leveller’ not only works with conventional loading docks with different floor heights, it can also be installed and commissioned in a fraction of the time required for competing systems.
Leading retailers benefitting from Transdek’s innovation include Boots, Halfords and Tesco, which has converted its top 100 stores so that they can receive deliveries from double deck trailers.
Totally Logistics North takes place on September 26 and 27.
