An international green building conference being staged in Sheffield for the first time is set to bring hundreds of delegates to the city - spending hundreds of thousands of pounds.
FutureBuild 2014 will see upwards of 300 people at the City Hall on November 5 and 6 to hear keynote speeches from top politicians, sustainable energy industry specialists and business entrepreneurs including Wayne Hemmingway, founder of Red or Dead clothing company and now specialist in affordable and social housing,
It will close with a £75-a-head gala dinner for 300 at The Cutlers’ Hall, featuring Lord Digby Jones.
The event is being hailed a major step in the ‘mainstreaming’ of the green building movement - and a boon to the local economy.
Carole Kenyon, of organisers Tick Tock events, said: “It could put Sheffield on the map as a leader in this kind of thing.
“It will the first of its type in the way it will bring together different groups, from self-builders to architects and lawyers to politicians.”
“It is set to attract hundreds from across Europe.”
