GOING green is paying dividends for Birley Manufacturing Solutions.
The company has introduced a series of initiatives in recent years, including investing in solvent-free spraying facilities and ensuring all of its wood comes from certified sustainable sources.
Two years ago it went one step further by introducing a ‘zero to landfill’ policy at the suggestion of one of its internal teams.
All its metal is recycled, as you might expect, while off-cuts go for use by pupils at local schools. The firm also send a lot of its waste to Sheffield’s incinerator to be turned into heat energy.
“It’s challenging,” says managing director Steve English, “but it does help us when we are talking to clients.”
