Engineering firm up for national title

A Sheffield engineering company has won the Manufacturer of the Year title at the Yorkshire and Humber British Chambers of Chambers of Commerce Awards - showcasing the pivotal role local businesses play in the UK’s economy.

The President Engineering Group, based at President Park, Sheffield, now goes forward to the national finals, which take place at the Pavilion at the Tower of London later this month.

PEGL is a supplier of specialist components and safety systems to the industrial gas and energy industries worldwide.

It was formed after a management buyout of two firms, followed later by an acquistion, and today employs 100 and turns over £30m.

Nora Senior, president of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: “As the UK economy continues to go from strength to strength, it is great through the awards to meet so many inspirational businesses in our network that are tirelessly driving the growth agenda.

“Their determination and creativity, and the impact they are having on their local communities never fails to impress me.”
