Engineering apprentices offered route into industry

Carillion has recruited three civil engineering apprentices in South Yorkshire as part of a new programme designed to give young people a route into the profession other than through studying at university.

Jaden Waugh, from Doncaster, Jack Robinson, from Barnsley and Jake Wileman, from South Elmsall will get practical experience working in the £28 million Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme, linking the M18 to Robin Hood Airport and the Tinsley Link Scheme in Sheffield which is part of the Bus Rapid Transit Northern Route Scheme.

Carillion area director for civil engineering, Lee Tinkler said: “The construction industry offers a range of great careers. Offering young people different routes into the industry is something which Carillion promotes.”
