Eight Sheffield University graduates who were sponsored by a social mobility programme organised by Lloyds Bank were invited to a celebration ceremony in London.
Chris Fleming, Zoe Faulkner, Rebekah Hanns, Emma Fairhurst, Rebecca Hetherington, Lee-Anne Reddey, Liv Burrell and Kahar Hussain all came from lower income households.
In return for a complete package of financial support, paid internships and a business mentor, students carry out volunteer work for at least 100 hours per year while on the programme.
The programme has supported 57 students at the university since 2011.
At the ceremony the graduates were recognised not only for their academic successes, but also their commitment to volunteering.
