Two trainees from South Yorkshire have been named regional winners of the National Training and National Apprenticeship Awards.
Yaser Rauf from the Rotherham-based Top 50 manufacturer MTL Group was named Advanced Apprentice of the Year, while Alice Hawke, from DSM Roofing in Barnsley, was named Higher Apprentice of the Year.
Yaser Rauf said: “My apprenticeship has been a fantastic opportunity for me to advance my career in to engineering.
“The award evening was a great success for MTL Group, I am looking forward the national judging and I hope to do well for Yorkshire and the Humber region.”
South Yorkhsire apprentices who were highly commended included Adam Barrett from ALB Service Centre in Barnsley, Kelly Ellis from Thomson (UK and Ireland) based in Meadowhall and Thomas Parker from BT in Sheffield.
Tata Steel’s Sheffield operations were highly commended in the Large Employer of the Year category and Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council was highly commended in the Macro Employer of the Year category.
