Restaurateur Andy Gardiner has taken two top prizes at the annual Deliciouslyorkshire Awards.
Mr Gardiner, who runs the Beatson House restaurant in the village of Cawthorne, near Barnsley, won the Best Drink and the Consumers’ Choice Award for his Jamaican Ginger Cake liqueur, which is part of his Boozy Infusion range of after dinner drinks.
Judges described the tipple’s aroma as a ‘knock out’. Andy Gardiner said: “I was delighted just to be shortlisted, especially alongside some of the very best producers in the country, so when the panel of experts chose Jamaican Ginger Cake Infusion as the winner I was absolutely thrilled.
“To then be announced as the top choice by the general public was simply icing on the cake.”
Deliciouslyorkshire’s chairman, Cath Clelland, said: “Year on year the quality of entrants has been exemplary and reinforces Yorkshire’s position as a leading force in the UK’s food and drink sector.”
Deliciouslyorkshire is a not for profit organisation set up to support food and beverage producers, retailers and the hospitality industry in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
