Double decker buses are being introduced on a popular Sheffield route, to increase passenger capacity at busy times.
From September 1, leading operator Stagecoach will operate double decker buses on most journeys on service 57, from Sheffield to Stocksbridge.
The route currently carries about 450,000 people a year, and demand at certain times of the day currently exceeds capacity.
Rupert Cox, commercial director for Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “Listening to feedback from our customers is really important and we are delighted to be increasing capacity on this popular Sheffield route.
“The vehicles will carry an extra 25 passengers, which will make a big difference to journeys at peak times.”
Stagecoach is also making minor changes to its bus times in order to help improve punctuality, reliability and connections. Visit www.stagecoach.com to view the changes.
