A Doncaster pizza parlour is hoping to be named ‘tops’ in Britain at a glittering gala dinner next month.

Red Tomato, which is based on Thorne Road, has been shortlisted in the best pizza and pasta takeway outlet category at the Pizza Pasta and Italian Association Awards which will take place in London on November 13.

The ceremony will be hosted by celebrity chef Aldo Zilli.

Owner Comron Hayati said: “Frankly, even though we are very excited about the awards and hope to get a pat on the back, we don’t think about it on a daily basis when we go to work. We just want to provide the best food followed by a great service.”

Co-owner and brother Darius said: “Over the years we have won many national, regional and local awards. This is not all about me or my brother, it is due to our dedicated staff – a big thank you to all of them to getting us this far. Without their dedication this would not have been possible.”

The brothers, along with dad Parviz, will all be attending the ceremony at the Lancaster Hyde Park Hotel.
