Employees of Ardagh Glass in Doncaster and Barnsley are due start a series of strikes today over what they say is an inadequate pay offer.
The workers, members of Unite, the country’s largest union, and the GMB union, have voted overwhelmingly for strike action and for industrial action short of a strike, say union leaders.
At the Doncaster site on Barnby Dun Road, strikes will affect different shifts on August 9, 10, 15 and 23 and September 2, 3 and 8. All day shifts at Doncaster will be affected on August 12 and September 9
The strikes, which will hit shifts at Doncaster, Barnsley and Knottingley in Yorkshire and at Irvine in Ayrshire, are due to continue to Monday, September 9.
