Helping to promote the benefits of public transport was the First bus company during a national week of campaigning.
The Doncaster business joined forces with sustainable transport group Greener Journeys to celebrate the ‘Great British Bus’ through the annual Catch the Bus Week.
The campaign aims to drive awareness of the benefits of taking the bus and encourage local people to make the switch from the car.
First, along with Greener Journeys, which is spearheading the campaign, and hundreds of other participants all over the country – including bus companies, passenger organisations and local authorities – will be promoting the many benefits of bus travel.
As part of Catch the Bus Week 2015, the local team have worked with Doncaster Frenchgate to invite shoppers to have their say on bus services and encourage even more people to use the bus.
Bus passenger journeys make up over two thirds of all public transport usage and each year, bus commuters create more than £64 billion worth of goods and services.
For many, the bus is a vital lifeline and an affordable and accessible form of transport.
