Sheffield digital agency Rckt has used cutting edge technology to bring a breath of fresh air to European Lung Foundation’s website.
Rckt’s work was unveiled at one of the largest worldwide conferences for respiratory science and medicine, the European Respiratory Society Annual Congress in Barcelona, reputedly attended by 20,000 delegates.
Lung diseases cause one in six deaths worldwide and cost European nations alone more than €380 billion in primary care, hospital treatment and lost productivity.
Developing the web site, which has content in eight languages, was a job that was particularly close to Rckt principal Andy Barratt’s heart.
“Having faced the challenges of Asthma from a young age I have first hand appreciation of the difficulties faced by those with lung conditions,” said Mr Barratt.
“It’s the work of ELF, their peers and colleagues that can make a huge difference towards all those who suffer and can actively raise awareness and bring about change. The team and myself were really eager to support their work as much as possible.”
Although developing the web site was a complex job, Rckt was so keen to support and promote the European Lung Foundation that it cut its fees significantly.
Pippa Powell, head of ELF, said: “Due to the complexity of lung diseases themselves and the geographical coverage of the organisation, the ELF website is large, multilingual and complicated. Working with Rckt to update and revitalise our old site was fantastic.”
