Panel Systems is reporting a huge surge in demand for products made from an innovative, lightweight material which it launched in the UK market earlier this year.
The Sheffield-based supplier of bespoke panels for sectors ranging from construction to education and leisure, says it has won a series of major contracts to supply panels made from a polypropylene honeycomb material called ThermHex.
Leading applications for the material include in commercial vehicles and caravans, where ThermHex is being used instead of plywood because it offers weight savings of more than 85 per cent.
Chris Ibbotson, managing director of Parkwood Industrial Estate-based Panel Systems, said: “Businesses in the commercial vehicles and marine sector are looking to take weight out of their products.
“ThermHex combines strength and durability with low weight to provide major benefits. We have secured some major contracts already, with customers taking advantage of our bespoke design and fabrication capabilities.”
