Demand rises for space in Lower Don Valley

Prospect Commercial is reporting a resurgence of demand for business space in the heart of the Lower Don Valley after letting more than 12,000 square feet of office accommodation at Distington House, off Atlas Way.

NHS Direct and Gabbro have taken long-term leases to occupy new open-plan suites on the ground floor, following a comprehensive refurbishment programme.

Prospect commercial property manager Robert Roddy said: “These major new lease agreements could represent a watershed for post-recession recovery in the Don Valley – they are the first lettings of their size in this area for almost four years.”

Rob Darrington of managing agents Lambert Smith Hampton added: “The arrival of major names like NHS Direct and Gabbro at Distington House reflects a wider increase in business uptake at locations outside of Sheffield city centre.

“The Don Valley offers more competitive business rates while providing its own strategic advantages, particularly its convenient access to motorways and other transport networks.”

More than 20,000 square feet of newly refurbished office space is available at Distington House from letting agents Knight Frank.
