A Sheffield firm which helps raise money for guide dogs has been praised by city MP David Blunkett.
Mr Blunkett and his guide dog Cosby visited Gripple’s headquarters on Savile Street East, Attercliffe, and learned about the company’s push to organise fundraising for Support Dogs.
Boxes have been placed at the firm’s three sites across the city which allow employees to donate toys and dog food, while staff helped redesign three of the charity’s training rooms.
Staff are also organising a 12,000ft skydive for charity.
Mr Blunkett, Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough MP, said: “Gripple is not simply a highly successful manufacturing enterprise, it is an experience.
“Employee-owned and driven by innovation and mutual creativity, this is a Sheffield firm displaying all the strengths of our creative history, entrepreneurship and decent employee relations – no bonus culture here but a sharing of the challenge and the rewards.
“If there were more companies like Gripple the world would be a better place.
“There is also a strong team spirit, demonstrated in the staff’s ongoing links with the community.”
Danny Anderson, fundraising manager at Support Dogs Sheffield, said: “Gripple has provided us with brilliant support to create a more suitable environment for our clients with autism, epilepsy and physical disability when they come to our centre.
“The amazing ‘demo box’ – which includes a demo washing machine, supermarket shelves, letterbox, light switch and alarm cord – will allow us to demonstrate skills our assistance dogs learn.”
