Traders who have applied for stalls at the new Moor Market are to be informed whether they have been successful before the end of next month.
Sheffield Council has received 112 applications covering 220 stalls so far – many for more than one unit – which is more than the 183 stall units and 12 cafes available.
The closing date for stallholders’ bids is 5pm today.
Coun Leigh Bramall, Sheffield Council cabinet member for business, skills and development, said: “We will sort through applications to ensure the new market offers a wide range of goods when the building opens on Monday, November 18.
“We will inform traders of their stall allocation or otherwise by April 26.
“The Castle Market building is due for demolition and it is planned to develop the area. We will also be looking into the possibility of featuring the old castle remains.”
