One of the UK’s leading speciality coffee wholesalers has been sold to one of Europe’s largest coffee roasters in a deal involving Hlw Commercial Lawyers’ corporate partner Roger Dyson and corporate finance specialist Jo Haigh.
Huddersfield-based Cooper’s Coffee was set up by David and Jacqui Cooper 22 years ago and grew to supply more than 500 independently-owned cafés and restaurants in Yorkshire and the North East.
The company has been acquired by United Coffee, a leading supplier of private label coffees and a major supplier to restaurants, hotels, pubs, leisure venues and contract caterers.
Milton Keynes-based United was represented by Baker Tilly Corporate Finance and Stevens & Bolton.
Roger Dyson, who advised Cooper’s Coffee on the legal aspects of the sale, said: “Hlw was delighted to be instructed by Cooper’s Coffee because of our expertise in, and understanding of, owner manager businesses and SMEs.”
