Iceotope’s patented liquid cooling system can halve datacentre energy usage and allow datacentre facilities to run as efficiently as those in the Arctic Circle.
The firm, based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, is ultimately targeting the $250bn global datacentre industry.
Iceotope designs and manufactures liquid cooled computer servers, which require roughly half of the overall energy of traditional air cooled systems.
Its servers are also unique in that they run virtually silently, can operate anywhere on the planet and can be plumbed into central heating systems to heat sites via domestic radiators.
Although having only launched its products in March 2012, Iceotope is already an industry leader in green datacentre cooling and its patented liquid encapsulation cooling system is the only one of its kind in the world. As today’s reliance on technology shows no sign of letting up, Iceotope has the potential to make a considerable impact on lessening the environmental impact of IT and could force the market to rethink datacentres all together.
