consultation on the future of care services for 13,000 people in Sheffield is set to be launched.
Officials are proposing greater use of personalised budgets to ‘provide opportunities for people to have greater choice and control’ over services.
The change will allow patients to choose which services they require.
Some 1,000 Sheffield Council staff will be affected by changes -–a council-run service, setting up a new council-owned company or tendering to private companies.
Coun Mary Lea, cabinet member for health, care and independent living, said: “We cannot continue doing things as we have always done in the past. We will work with everyone involved to consider all options and to make sure our resources are targeted to where they will have the greatest impact.”
The consultation is set to be approved by the council’s cabinet on Wednesday.
