AN apartment block, created by Sheffield architects using the frame of a building that had never been completed is up for a major award.

The ‘Rusty Box’ on West Street – so called because of its distinctive, weathered steel cladding – is the brainchild of award winning city design company Coda Studios.

The company took over the project after the steel frame of the building had been erected and then abandoned.

Now, the £1.5 million block of 55 student apartments has been nominated for a prize in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Pro-Yorkshire Property Awards.
