City steelman’s memorial service

A memorial service for Sir Robert Scholey, the Sheffield steelman who rose to become chairman of British Steel and led its privatisation, will be held in the Cutlers’ Hall at 11.30am this Friday, February 14. The service will be led by Canon Christopher Burke, Precentor of Sheffield Cathedral, and retired Sheffield industrial chaplain Canon Mike West.

Speakers will be former British Steel managing director David Saul and Master Cutler Tony Pedder, past chief executive of British Steel’s successor, Corus.

Sir Robert died last month at the age of 92.
