SHEFFIELD City Hall has been recognised as one of the best large event venues in the country, by industry publication Event Magazine.

The Hall – which is run by Sheffield International Venues (SIV) – is used for a range of events including concerts, comedy gigs and conferences and has been shortlisted in the large capacity venue category of the magazine’s annual awards.

It will go up against the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Chelsea Football Club at the awards finals in London next month.

SIV Events’ general manager, Dominic Stokes, said: “To be consistently recognised in the industry against our peers is clearly great news for SIV.

“Event Magazine is a really significant trade publication nationally and internationally. To be shortlisted alongside some of the top London venues shows that we as a company and a city are winning the battle to reduce the ‘London is the place to be’ perception gap. This will be key to us providing event organisers with a credible alternative to London next year when availability will be restricted.”
