Two Sheffield companies and a Sheffield entrepreneur have triumphed in the Yorkshire region’s premier awards for the healthcare sector.
Software company Switchstance IT and surgical instrument manufacturer Sheffield Precision Medical were two of the five companies that received recognition for their outstanding achievements at the annual Medilink Healthcare Business Awards.
Meanwhile, past Master Cutler Doug Liversidge was presented with the Beacon Award for Outstanding Contribution to Healthcare.
Switchstance won the Medipex Partnership with the NHS award for developing an innovative online diabetes support system that brings together diabetes activity information and prescribing data and is available to all GP practices in England.
Sheffield Precision Medical won the UKTI Export Achievement Award after doubling exports during the last year after launching a new international strategy.
Brian Reece, Managing Director of Sheffield Precision Medical, said: “It’s a privilege to win this award. I’m really grateful to the team who have worked exceptionally hard to achieve this success. They deserve the award as much as anyone.”
Medilink’s managing director, Kevin Kiely, said: “Yorkshire and Humber’s tradition of high-performing healthcare technologies businesses has once again been confirmed by the quality of the applicants and shortlisted companies in our awards this year.
“It is particularly gratifying to recognise Doug Liversidge, the founding chairman of Medilink, who continues to champion this sector through his involvement in sub-regional groups and as chairman of the award-winning Surgical Innovations.”
Sheffield-based Medilink aims to encourage the growth of the healthcare sector and increase collaboration.
