Green energy specialist Danfoss Heat Pumps UK has secured a seat at the bar which could lead to more orders from the pub trade.
The Sheffield firm is helping national pub chain J D Wetherspoon to save energy by installing a heat pump alongside hand pumps in one of its outlets.
Parkwood Business Park-based Danfoss has installed the heat pump at one of Wetherspoon’s pubs in Melton Mowbray as part of a major refurbishment.
The pump is linked to bore holes beneath a paved area at the front of the pub and uses the temperature difference between the outside air and the bottom of the borehole to produce hot water in the winter and cold water in the summer, which is fed into an underfloor network of pipes that ensure the pub is at the right temperature.
Chris Dale, director of Danfoss Heat Pumps UK, said: “JD Wetherspoon is among a growing number of forward-looking companies who are specifying ground source heat pumps in commercial premises.”
