Sheffield-born television presenter Charlie Webster has reported on sports for years - so she knows a worthy competition when she sees one.
That’s why the star - best known for her work on Sky Sports, Eurosport and Channel 4 - has signed up to present this year’s Sheffield Business Awards.
She will crown the winners in 15 categories at a glittering gala ceremony at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on Thursday December 4.
Charlie will bring her vast experience to the stage - some of her recent television credits include being the first woman in the world to present live boxing coverage for the Klitschko vs Leapai fight on Eurosport earlier this year.
She also hosted the VIP room at the Belgian Grand Prix and presented triathlon coverage on Eurosport and Channel 4.
She said: “Business and sport have a lot of parallels and I’m thrilled to be returning to my home city to present these awards.
“Seeing the calibre of previous winners I know it will be a heavyweight contest to beat them all.”
The awards, now in their 13th year, are organised by Sheffield Chamber and The Star.
Today they are firmly established as an unmissable showcase of business and enterprise.
More than 800 guests are expected to pack the room for a top night which includes a five course meal, and entertainment.
Abandoman, an award winning improvising hip-hop group, led by Rob Broderick, makes a return to the awards after being a smash hit with guests last year.
This year a dedicated website has been set up to make it as easy as possible to apply.
Kate Stephenson, Sheffield Chamber events manager, said: “It’s so easy. Simply register on the website and answer the questions.
“The best bit is that entries can be edited and updated right up to the deadline on October 3.”
Categories include business of the year, young business person, skills and community investment.
