Sheffield Chamber of Commerce is seeking its first ever official Charity of the Year.

The business support and representation organisation is inviting local charities to nominate themselves.

The successful charity will be announced at the Chamber’s President’s Dinner in May and will receive support for a year, after which a new charity will be chosen.

Sheffield Chamber head of business development, Amanda Pilgrim, said: “In tough economic times the charity sector can be one of the hardest hit.

“At the Chamber we wanted to offer our support as local charities are an important part of our membership base and we wanted to build our partnership with these organisations even further. The collaboration between charities and local companies will need to be as strong as ever and through this new initiative we hope to see a more businesses getting involved with worthy causes and raising funds.”

Submissions have to be in by February 18 and each charity will need to be a Sheffield Chamber member.
