LEGENDARY table tennis star Sue Gilroy MBE is heading to her fourth Paralympic Games in London, with a little help from her local chamber.
Sue, from Dodworth, Barnsley, has represented ParalympicsGB at every summer Games since Sydney 2000.
Currently fifth in the world she hopes to regain her number one ranking.
Sue received an MBE in 2009 for her services to table tennis, sport for young people and her charity work as a patron of the Rainbow House Charity which supports disabled and terminally ill children.
Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber has donated £200 which will go towards Sue’s training.
Sue says her proudest achievement was winning gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. She also won silver medal in the women’s singles class 4 at the 2003 European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, when she was seven and a half months pregnant.
She has Ehlers Danlos – a chronic muscle and ligament degenerative condition.
