Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce is in the running for a prestigious award for a groundbreaking lobbying campaign.
The Chamber has been shortlisted in the Most Effective Campaigning category of the British Chambers of Commerce Awards for its work with Doncaster and Sheffield Chambers on a campaign for policies to promote growth and job creation.
The programme began with a Conference For Growth at Barnsley Metrodome, focusing on the skills, infrastructure and general conditions required for growth.
It culminated in the launch of a Manifesto for Growth, which has been distributed to more than 4,000 businesses, partners, politicians and local authorities in the Sheffield City Region.
Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber executive director Andrew Denniff, right, said: “We are pleased that the tremendous success of the manifesto, the preceding conference and the ongoing lobbying, which has included business forums with our MPs in Barnsley and Rotherham, has been recognised by the national Chamber network.
“The Chamber’s policy movement is as strong as ever and this recognition is a genuine reward for the hard work that we have put into our aim of being the leading voice for businesses in Barnsley and Rotherham, as the national Chamber is for Britain.”
