Sheffield crowd control specialist Events Solution is limbering up for one of its biggest challenges of the year – keeping runners and spectators safe at the London Marathon.
The firm will be transporting almost 15km of fencing and barriers to the capital this Sunday, April 13, to create start and finish lines at the world famous event.
It will play a vital role at the start, in Blackheath, and at the finish on The Mall.
Once all the runners have crossed the line and the crowds have departed the company will take them down - only to dash across the capital to erect some of it again outside the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, in time for the Olivier Awards the same evening.
James Wood, operations manager, said: “The London Marathon is such a landmark occasion in the sporting calendar that it attracts huge interest from runners and spectators alike.
“Organising a public gathering on this scale is a massive undertaking and we are very proud to be playing such an integral role in its continued success.
“Catering for the Olivier Awards on the same day does increase the logistical complications, but our team will rise to the occasion.”
