Call centre connects with a milestone

BT’s Doncaster call centre at Lakeside is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Saturday.

In that time, the centre has provided employment for around 5,000 people, mostly local, and there are currently 740 people working there.

Staff at Doncaster, one of the largest BT sites, currently handle more than two million calls a year in roles such as sales, customer service as well as some offline work.

They also volunteer their time to handle major fundraising telethons such as Comic Relief, Sport Relief and Children in Need.

Sam Calvert, general manager of sales and offline, said: “BT Doncaster has a real spirit about it.

“In the lead-up to the 15-year celebrations we have uncovered numerous relationships, proposals and marriages from people who have met and worked together at BT.”
